In writing, our topic was rollerblading. We first planned our writing into four sections, then we wrote our draft, and we ended the week off with students revising each other's works.
This week, we have started our testing materials unit. Students got a chance to explore the strength of different shapes and objects as well as build a Leprechaun house. For writing, we are finishing up our persuasive writing unit. We did have a few stops along the way to do some limericks as well as work on our revision skills. This coming week, we are going to write poems about spring as well as finish our good copies for our persuasive writing. For math, we continued with division. We are going to finish our multiplication and division unit so we can start something new after spring break. Every day, if your student does not finish their math work in class, I have been sending them home to finish it. It's only one page, and should not take very long. Math - This week, we continued with our multiplication unit. Students have been working on their 6, 7, and 8 facts as well as count bys. We have also made a large multiplication table with all the products as well as ways to demonstrate how they achieved the answer. I have sent some students home with homework today as they did not finish in class. It should take at most 10 minutes to finish. Writing - We started our persuasive writing unit. Students learned about the structure of persuasive writing (what? why? why? why? what again?), how to use persuasive words, as well as including 3 reasons or examples in each of their whys. The topic students wrote about was whether if I should get a classroom pet and what pet should I get? Reading- For reading, we have been working on visualization. Hello Parents, This week in... Math - We continued our measurements unit, we learned about word problems, conversion between imperial units, and made shapes to learn about perimeter. Writing - For this week, we wrote in our duck diaries. Gym - This week, we played football type games such as Eraser Football and Bean Bag Football. Furthermore, we also learned how to throw a football, we focused on having a really nice spiral. Also, we learned a new tag game; Insect Tag. Science - We started our animal life cycles unit. We got a unit booklet and learned about different classifications of animals such as mammals, insects, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. This week, we got ducklings, and they hatched! Everyone got a chance to hold and pet the ducklings.
