Pumpkin Math




 Students clean, scooped, and counted the pumpkin seeds in 2s, 5s, as well as 10s. I had the students take their pumpkin booklet home today so please ask them about it!

  Hello Parents, Yes I know I haven't posted for a while with pictures but here it all is! Math - We have been working on graphing bar graphs and line plots. They also had a quiz on it this week. I have sent home some practice sheets they can do over the break. If you do any of the sheets, please do not throw them away as I have to pay them their punches. Writing - We have been working on event stories. They have been typing their good copies this week and the ones who finished early have been having fun with winter themed mad libs. Reading - For reading, last week we worked on the bossy r and this week we worked on the long a sounds. We have also been doing some reading comprehension as a class about Greek mythology. We have only done one passage about Zeus; when we come back we will continue this.  Hello Parents, This week in... Math - We continued our measurements unit, we learned about word problems, conversion between imperial units, and made shapes to learn about perimeter.  Writing - For this week, we wrote in our duck diaries. Gym - This week, we played football type games such as Eraser Football and Bean Bag Football. Furthermore, we also learned how to throw a football, we focused on having a really nice spiral. Also, we learned a new tag game; Insect Tag. Science - We started our animal life cycles unit. We  got a unit booklet and learned about different classifications of animals such as mammals, insects, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.  This week, we got ducklings, and they hatched! Everyone got a chance to hold and pet the ducklings. April 3 - April 6

This week, we started our geometry unit. We learned about what is and is not a polygon, differece between regular and irregular polygon, right angles and angles in comparison to right angles, and different line segments. For writing, we did a lot of work on when to use commas. The biggest takeway was that we can use a connecting word and a comma to merge two simple sentences together. Finally, for building, we built spaghetti marshmallow towers, as well as coffee stir bridges. Finally, students made their own pysanky eggs and some students applied the wax on the egg themselves.
